6 Healthy Snacks for the Workplace

Tired of munching on chips and fatty foods all day long? Want to eat something that’s a little bit better for your body? If so, try chomping down on some of these healthier snacks during your shift at the office.

1. Seeds

Whether it’s fall and you’re craving the delicious saltiness of pumpkin seeds or it’s summer and you’d love a handful of sunflower seeds, these tasty treats are a great alternative to processed foods. Not only are they easy to store, but they’re packed with protein and other nutrients like folate, iron, and zinc.

2. Greek Yogurt

If you have a sweet tooth, you have to indulge in the creamy goodness that is Greek yogurt. While it’s not naturally sweet, you can add toppings like fresh fruit, granola, or honey to make it a protein-filled snack that will help you make it through your mid-day slump and give your belly the probiotics it craves.

3. String Cheese

Want to feel like a kid again? Try out string cheese when you hear your stomach growl after lunch. This fun treat is loaded with protein, calcium, and vitamin D. For even more benefits, skip the processed cheese and stick with only organic variants.

4. Seaweed

Some days, you just can’t get the crunch of a chip out of your head. For these occasions, break out a bag of roasted seaweed. It has much of the same crunch and texture of a chip, but without all the calories. Plus, seaweed contains vitamins K, B, E, C, and A, so you’ll be fulfilling much of your daily nutritional needs.

5. Roasted Chickpeas

Another crunchy alternative to chips is roasted chickpeas. This is a great option if you don’t have access to a fridge to store hummus, as they do just fine at room temperature. Pop these in whenever you get a craving, and benefit from the big boost of protein.

6. Nuts and Dried Fruit

Nuts and dried fruit are great options on their own, but when you combine them, you get an amazing sweet and salty concoction that is to die for. The nuts provide a healthy dose of protein and fat, while the fruits provide fiber and other vitamins.

You don’t have to eat like a pig at work. Instead, try these healthier options to improve your nutrition and help you drop a few pounds.
